Summer is not quite over, so the fun of these lazy, hazy days hasn't ended just yet. Don't waste these last few weeks on dinner and a movie; get out and try something different. Here's some events not too far from Springs Apartments that you might want to consider.

Fort Myers Music Walk
Aug. 21, 6 p.m.
River District

For an evening of music, food, friends and outdoor breezes, head to the River District for the monthly Music Walk. With beats and melodies floating over the water, a variety of great food aromas wafting through the air and a casual relaxed atmosphere all around, these regular events should be experienced at least once. Musicians of all kinds gather at different areas in the District and several restaurants stay open so your choices for music and food are ample.

Edison & Ford Winter Estates
Daily
Edison & Ford Estates

If you have not visited this historic site, spend a morning getting to know a side of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford you may not have known before. The two friends had winter homes next to each other on a 20-acre site that includes gorgeous historic gardens, and a really neat laboratory. Go out and take a tour of the homes and gardens. Then grab lunch at the marina next door while contemplating how the Florida wind and waves inspired these two brilliant men.

Art Workshop at Edison & Ford Winter Estates
Aug. 29, 9:30 - 2 p.m.

One way to tap into the creativity of Ford and Edison might be to take an art workshop on site. On August 29, artist Marie Dyer will lead a workshop on creating your own decorated silk scarf. The fee for the workshop includes all your materials and guided help from one of southwest Florida's premiere artists.

Fort Myers Drum Circle
Aug. 23, 7 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
Centennial Park on Edwards Drive

Head over to Centennial Park and finish your summer with the beat of wild drums and the friendliness of an organic musical gathering.  You don't have to have much experience or even a drum to participate, but you will need to bring a chair and a sense of musical adventure. If you have a drum, tambourine or other percussion instrument, you are invited to bring it and add your beat the circle. Other celebrations tend to bubble up at this event in the form of potluck dinners, dancing, hula hooping and even pot spinning. What a great way to let the beat of your heart and the beat the world come together in one funky-cool evening.

Fort Myers is fantastic place to get out and explore. So, skip the beach and the movies and get out to something different.
