The Fort Myers area has plenty of great walking and running spots just waiting for you to discover them. We have done the research, now all you have to do is lace up your shoes and head out the door! Of course, you might want to grab a bottle of water, too, and a running or walking buddy (maybe even your pup, because some of spots allow you to bring dogs along)!
Six Mile Cypress Slough Reserve - 1.2 mile
Six Mile Cypress Slough Reserve sounds like it might be six-mile walk or run, but it's actually a loop that is just over a mile long. It's primarily a walking trail and one of the highlights is that it goes around a lake (and there's a boardwalk!). It is open year-round and is perfect for all skill levels. It rarely gets crowded, so this is ideal for those who love a little solitude. The views are terrific and it is a great place for bird watching, too!
Orange River Trail - 8.6 miles
The Orange River Trail is a bit longer, just over eight and a half miles, out and back. It's another trail that is perfect for all levels, and dogs are welcome on the trail, too. The highlight of this trail? Plenty of manatees! It's one of the best spots around to see these gentle marine mammals during the right season.
Bunche Beach Trail - 715 acres (walk as much as you want!)
If you like to bird watch, Bunch Beach Trail is for you. This designated South Florida Birding Trail offers you wonderful views of both the beach and the birds. There are 715 acres of wetlands, hiking and nature trails, a protected species habitat, a gorgeous sandy beach, and it's open-year round, from dawn to dusk.
