How Can You Tell When to Start Gearing Up for Football Living in Estero and Fort Myers? 

While northerners take their fall football cues from the slight turning and turning and falling of tree leaves, along with a slight chill in the air; we Floridians living in Fort Myers and Estero have our own special telltale hints that let us know it's time for kickoff. Yes, just because our pumpkin spice lattes are frozen, and the chill in the air isn't all that noteworthy until it dips below the 70s; it doesn't mean we don't know it's when it's time to pull out our team jerseys and face paint. Basically, as soon as we stop cranking up the AC, and the crowds at any nearby tourist destinations die down, we know it's time to start planning our football season.

What Can You Do to Celebrate Fall Football in Your New Southwest Florida Community Home? 

Thankfully, there is no shortage of gridiron grit to sink your teeth into in SW Florida. Even the most diehard fans may have to face some tough choices when it comes to choosing between professional, college and high school football in the area. We thought it might help to give you the play-by-play of who and where everyone is playing. 

• Go Pro with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or the Miami Dolphins. While neither NFL team is right around the corner of your new community, they are close enough for a fun and sunny road trip with the top of your convertible down, or at least with the windows rolled down. You face a drive of about 125 miles to the east for the chance to spend time cheering on the AFC's Miami Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium while a mere 150 miles north will get you that much closer to the NFC's Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium. 
• Take a Trip to Tampa to Enjoy College Ball. A laid back trek from your apartment at Gulf Springs at Gulf Coast in Estero to Tampa, along I-75, gives you the chance to take in some classic NCAA Division I ball at the University of South Florida in Tampa. Remember to wear your green and gold gear to cheer on the Bulls. 
• Stay Close to Home for High School Football. Just under eight miles away from your Springs at Six Mile Cypress in Fort Myers community home, you can spend some time basking in the glow of the Friday night lights. Fort Myers High School is the Home of the Green Wave—lovingly called the "Gridiron Greenies" by locals—where you can get your pigskin fix close to home. With all the time you don't have to spend driving, you can stop for dinner at one of the many great restaurants near Fort Myers and Estero, such as the Tropical Creole Restaurant or Deep Down South BBQ. After the game, you still have time to meet up with friends to do the post-game wrap-up at Sideline Sports Bar & Grill.
