It's Monday and your near-empty fridge is uninspiring. So, where can you get a good meal that’s not too far from our Springs at Fremaux Town Center Apartment community in Slidell? Take a quick trip up Hwy. 190 to Highway 11 and you can find a whole range of international choices.

Here's where to start:

Southside Cafe
3154 Pontchartrain Drive

This relaxed cafe has a full menu of pub food, New Orleans style. Along with wings, cheese sticks, burgers and salad, you can also get crawfish balls, gumbo and muffalettas.

Osaka Restaurant
10 Service Road

If your dinner time call is coming from the land of the rising sun, then head over to Osaka and dive into their fresh Japanese menu. You can get sushi, Thai food or a meal from the hibachi grill complete with flames. Whether you get a California roll, a bowl of Pad Thai or barbecue squid, you are sure to leave satisfied.

Carreta’s Grill
137 Taos Street

Just up the road is a place where you can spend the evening with food from our southern neighbors. This Mexican grill offers delicious fresh fare like burritos, enchiladas and even jumbo margaritas. Dig into the Baja-style tacos and enjoy a taste of the sea.

Yee Chinese Restaurant
300 Pontchartrain Drive

Sometimes Chinese food is the only thing that will do and this great place is right up the road. Offering a standard Chinese menu with fresh meat and vegetables, you get a lot of food for your money at this eatery.

Que Rico Cuban Café
1901 2nd Street

Another international option is this non-descript cafe on 2nd Street, which serves fantastic Cuban food. Focusing on traditional fare like black beans and rice, tamales, slow-cooked pork and fried plantains, you’ll fall in love with this type of food and come away already craving more.

Palmettos on the Bayou
1901 Bayou Lane

When you want dinner out to be a little more than quick dining in a crowded cafe, head up to this New Orleans gem that's just a few blocks away, but completely in another world. Surrounded by National Wildlife Refuges on three sides, this oasis will soothe you visually as well as culinarily. Here you can get roasted half duck with mushroom risotto or New York strip with Gouda mashed potatoes. Not bad for a Monday night. Or, if Sunday brunch is your go-to good meal, then schedule a visit to enjoy the Sunday brunch buffet with complimentary champagne accompanied by sweet jazz music.

Fremaux Town Center Dining

Of course, walking distance dining is always a good option. Our neighbors in Fremaux Town Center have many national chain options, including BJ’s, Cheddars, Panera, Starbucks, Five Guys and local favorite, Felipe’s Taqueria.

Instead of popping a frozen meal in the microwave, take a short ride up the road and stop by one of these great restaurants. You’ll get a hot, full meal and you won't even have to do the dishes.
