Enjoy the Game at These Sports Bars in New Orleans

November 16, 2015

New Orleans is mostly known for Mardi Gras, gumbo, and jazz music. But this is a place where sports fans also enjoy a cold one while rooting for the home team. The Super Bowl-winning New Orleans Saints are of course the most famous sports team representing the Big Easy, but other local teams like the New Orleans Zephyrs and the Pelicans are worth cheering for, too. Here are some of the best sports bars for watching the game.

Mississippi River Bottom
515 St. Philip Street
New Orleans

Located in the French Quarter, this is possibly the quintessential New Orleans experience. You'll know you've found a hip and unique spot as soon as you see the three-legged dog with a basketball outside the front door. Like any good sports bar, the kitchen here serves up tasty standards. But unlike many sports bars, sports aren't the only shows you can watch here; this hangout has hosted viewings of popular TV series premieres, too. Bring your dog, grab a brew, and plan to stay a while.

Nick’s Sports Bar & Grill
3112 Pontchartrain Drive
Slidell

Just 5 minutes from Springs at Fremaux Town Center, Nick’s is a great place to watch the Saints or catch some LSU games. With 16 TVs you’ll be able to view all of the events. Nick’s even offers special Pay-Per-View events like UFC Fights. Make sure you come hungry because the menu includes 10 varieties of chicken wings, 5 different Po boy sandwiches, burgers and appetizers like charbroiled clams. And if that’s not enough, they also offer items from Fox’s Pizza Den menu.

The Jimani
141 Chartres Street
New Orleans

If you're looking for an old school, nothing trendy kind of sports bar, The Jimani is your place. It's a little bit divey, but it's where the locals go. Insiders know that this is the place to be when you just want to relax and not be bothered by anyone. Belly up to the classic copper bar and order your favorite drink or take advantage of the drink specials. It's dog-friendly and the kitchen is open late, so this is the kind of bar you can make your home away from home.

Bullet's Sports Bar
2441 A P Tureaud Avenue
New Orleans

When you want your sports bar to be just as much about entertainment as about the drinks and the food, Bullet's in the Seventh Ward is where you want to be. Local legends play music every week, especially at the Tuesday Night Jazz Jam, and the crowd is always friendly. Some nights have a cover charge and the bar is strictly cash only, so be sure to stop by the ATM before showing up. Some say that Bullet's is where to get the true New Orleans experience, away from the tourist favorites in the French Quarter.
