Does anything turn people back into kids faster than ice cream? Whether you prefer it in a cup, a cone or mixed in a thick shake, ice cream is everyone's favorite summer treat. Satisfy your craving at one of these great ice cream shops near our Springs Twin Cities communities.
1. Yogurt LabWhen it comes to cold, creamy treats, froyo is all the rage, and you'll find some of the best around at Yogurt Lab. Their USDA-certified organic yogurt is made on-site with quality ingredients such as hormone-free milk. The 16 flavors on tap, including non-fat, low-fat and sugar-free options, rotate daily, and you can add toppings like fresh fruit, graham cracker syrup and gluten-free granola.
2. SmallcakesSmallcakes is the perfect spot to satisfy any sweet tooth cravings. The ice cream case at this locally-owned shop is filled with creative homemade flavors such as Chocolate Sriracha, Lemon Poppy Seed and the best-selling Salted Caramel. They also feature another case of cupcakes with equally inventive flavors such as Cherry Limeade and Root Beer Float. You may have sampled some of their delectable baked goods at our ribbon-cutting for Springs at Apple Valley!
3. Scoops Ice Cream & MoreLast January, readers of the Bloomington Sun-Current voted Scoops as the "Best Ice Cream Parlor." The seasonal shop recently expanded hours for summer, giving you more time to enjoy their delicious ice cream. Their list of more than 80 flavors includes Shipwreck, which is vanilla ice cream laced with sea salt and candied almonds, and Nicollet Pothole, a local favorite featuring chocolate ice cream loaded with fudge, truffles, Heath bar pieces and sea salt. Follow their Facebook page for news about upcoming Midnight Scoops events.
4. Rita's Italian IcePut some international flair in your summer at Rita's, a recent addition to our area. All Italian ices are made in-house daily with fresh fruits like mango, lemon and raspberry, with at least one all-natural flavor offered daily. Order your ice regular style, cream style or blended into a frosty drink. Try a gelati, which is your choice of ice flavor sandwiched between two layers of frozen custard. Ices can also be blended with custard for a Misto shake, or add your favorite toppings to make it a Blendini.
