St-Patricks-Corpus-ChristiAre you looking for a place to get your Irish on for St. Patrick's Day? You don't have to go any further than downtown Corpus Christi, site of the fourth annual St. Patrick's Block Festival on Saturday, March 14. With daylong activities and thousands of guests attending, the city streets are the only venue that can accommodate this fun-filled celebration.

The host of the festival is Cassidy's Irish Pub, located at 601 N. Water Street. This lively bar serves up authentic Irish food and drink all year long, so no place is better qualified to serve up a party on this holiday.

If that isn't enough to entice you, here's a closer look at this popular event. Any one of these is reason enough to join in the festivities.

1. Green Beer!

What is St. Patrick's Day without some appropriately colored brew? If you prefer your beverages less brightly colored, there will be other specialty beers on tap.

2. Two Music Stages

Not one but two stages will be featuring a rich variety of musical entertainment. Local indie-rock favorites Steven James & The Jaded have already been announced as one of the headliners, with more names soon to follow.

3. Traditional Music & Dance

Expand your global horizons with a piece of Irish culture. Marching band Water's Edge will play traditional Irish tunes while performers of all ages will be demonstrating classic Irish dancing.

4. Food & More Food

No party is complete without food. Several food trucks and other vendors will be on hand to tempt you with their delicious wares.

5. Arts & Crafts

Pick up a striking new picture or other decoration for your home in Springs Apartments from one of the artists-and-crafters who will be displaying their creations.

6. It’s Free

The price is right! Entrance to the festival including all entertainment is free.

Don't just hear about all the fun second-hand from friends and neighbors. Mark your calendar for the festival and start planning your leprechaun outfit. Do you know of any other St. Patrick's Day events around town? Let us know in the comments!
