Make Fall More Fun With These 4 Events in Corpus Christi

Though some people might dread the end of summer, it’s hard to complain about the arrival of fall. With the start of football season, Halloween, and Thanksgiving all just a few months apart, there’s never a shortage of fun things to do. And not only that, but the cooler autumn air is also a nice change of pace from the sweltering heat of summer. Luckily for residents of Corpus Christi, there are a ton of special fall events to get you out of the house and enjoying the fall season. In fact, we’ve already made a list of some local events that everyone can enjoy. Check it out!

 

1. 21st Annual Corpus Christi BikeFest
October 10-12, 2014
American Bank Center

Whether you’re a motorcycle enthusiast or you’re just looking for a good time, make sure you check out the Corpus Christi BikeFest. Last year’s event was ranked as the 3rd largest motorcycle rally in all of Texas, and it’s only expected to be bigger this year. Apart from seeing some of the coolest motorcycles in the entire country, attendees will enjoy a live performance from country star Tim McGraw and will even have the opportunity to meet two star actors from the hit TV series Sons of Anarchy. Tickets for the rally start at $50 for the whole weekend, and you can purchase them online here.

2. 54th Annual Texas Jazz Festival
October 17-19, 2014
Heritage Park

The Texas Jazz Festival is the oldest free music festival in the entire country. What started in 1959 as an impromptu jazz performance for local students, the festival has since grown to become one of the city’s most well known events. More than 55 performers play on 3 stages throughout the weekend for 3 straight days of non-stop jazz. Even if you’re not an avid jazz listener, you’re sure to enjoy the lively atmosphere at the park, so grab some friends and make a night of it.

 

3. Dia de los Muertos Street Festival
November 1, 2014
Downtown Corpus Christi – Starr, Mesquite, and Peoples Streets

Celebrated around Halloween, Dia de los Muertos (“Day of the Dead”) is a Mexican holiday in which friends and family members paint their faces and dress as skeletons to welcome back their departed loves ones. In Corpus Christi, this has turned into a large street festival with more than 35,000 people, and was recently named one of the Top 10 Dia de los Muertos celebrations in the entire US! Admission is free so head on down and enjoy the live music, art vendors, and celebration.

4. 33rd Annual Turkey Chase
November 27, 2014
Heritage Park

Looking to get outside and get active this fall? Make sure you check out the Corpus Christi Roadrunners’ 33rd Annual Turkey Chase. This fun fall-themed run/walk takes place on Thanksgiving Day and offers a 4-mile, 2-mile, and 1K kids run. The event will be chip-timed for accuracy, but all ages and skill levels are encouraged to participate. And if you’re still not convinced, all registered runners will also receive a free long sleeved t-shirt. Registration fees are only $30 until November 1st, so make sure you sign up soon!
