Are you hoping to make the most of the time with your kids before they go back to school? Fortunately, Corpus Christi has several family-friendly attractions that everyone will enjoy. We've compiled a list of some of our favorite activities to share with you.

Head To The Beach

With all the water surrounding Corpus Christi, it's no surprise that the city is renowned for its variety of beautiful beaches. McGee Beach and North Beach are conveniently located in the heart of the city. The bay is protected by Mustang Island, so the waters at both sites are calm enough for small children. If you have older kids who like to surf and boogie board, they can catch the waves at Padre Island National Seashore.

Pet A Dolphin

Dolphins captivate adults and kids alike with their playful, friendly nature. Get a thrilling close-up look at these adorable mammals on a cruise with Dolphin Connection Texas. The one- to two-hour tours allow you to watch dolphins in their natural habitat and even occasionally pet one. Boats hold a maximum of six people, so everyone has a clear view.

Root, Root, Root For The Home Team

It wouldn't be summer without baseball, so head over to Whataburger Field to watch the Corpus Christi Hooks in action. The Double-A affiliate of MLB's Houston Astros is in action through the first week of September. Their schedule includes several games with special family pricing. Kids will love giveaways like t-shirts and lunch boxes as well as activities such as post-game fireworks.

Have A Go-Kart Race

Your family can enjoy some friendly competition with a lively go-kart race at Funtrackers Family Fun Center. The facility has four separate tracks, including one for beginners. But the fun doesn't end there! Funtrackers also has a miniature golf course, Himalaya carnival ride, bumper boats, batting cages and a game arcade. Take a break for a meal or snack at the Raceway Cafe.

Go Bird Watching

Take your binoculars to Hans and Pat Suter Wildlife Refuge, a 72-acre park that is home to a number of varieties of shorebirds and waterfowl as well as other wildlife. The 800-foot boardwalk and one-mile nature trail that wind through the marshes, woodlands and mudflats provide scenic views of Oso Bay. Picnic tables are available, so be sure to pack a basket.

Watch A Movie Under The Stars

Cole Park, on the waterfront near downtown Corpus Christi, is host to the city's Bay Jammin' Cinema Series. The family-friendly movies screen each Friday at nightfall and admission is free. You might also want to check out the Bay Jammin' Concert Series, held each Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
