1. Give Yourself a Head Start

A little pre-planning will make the job easier. When you're packing, label each box clearly so they can be put in the correct rooms as they're unloaded from the truck.

2. Set a Deadline

It's not necessary or even realistic to expect unpacking to be completed in one day. But the more time that goes by, the harder it is to finish. Depending on the floor plan and the amount of your belongings, a week or two is a reasonable goal.

3. First Things First

Of course, as you were packing and carefully labeling boxes, you assembled a first-night box of essentials such as a coffee maker, toilet paper and change of clothing. Make sure the box is handy so you can unpack it right away.

4. Four Hands Are Better than Two
