Are you preparing to move into your new Springs Apartments home? Even the most dedicated list-makers often focus on the move itself and forget an aspect of the process that's just as important: the post-move period. There's much more to do than unpacking boxes and arranging furniture. Make sure these tasks are included on your after-move checklist.

Check Your Belongings For Damage

If you employed a professional moving company, inspect your boxes and furniture right away. Document damages with photos and make a list of items that are missing. File any necessary claims as soon as this is done. The longer you wait, the more difficult it will be to locate missing boxes or receive reimbursement.

Make Sure All Utilities Are Turned On

You don't want to be reminded of this when the kids are wondering why they can't watch their new DVD. Electricity, gas and water are the essential services. Once those are settled, you can make arrangements for other utilities such as Internet and phone, and cable.

Update Vehicle Registrations And Drivers Licenses

This task sometimes becomes an afterthought, but you should take care of it as soon as possible. That way you will avoid any confusion with your car and your license will have the correct information in case of emergency. In many states you can also complete your voter registration right at the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Contact Your Insurance Companies

Don't take the chance of getting caught short on an auto or property claim because your policies aren't up-to-date. Provide your change of address and find out if the policies need any changes or amendments.

Find New Healthcare Providers

This may take a while, so start as soon as possible. Having a new doctor and dentist will make you feel more settled and give you peace of mind in case of an emergency. Don't forget about a new vet for any four-legged members of your household.

Get Your Finances In Order

Open a new bank account, order checks and provide credit card companies with your new address. If you have any automatic deposits or payments, don't forget to update that information to avoid possible late fees.

Find Out The Lay Of The Land

Subscribe to the local newspaper and pick up any community magazines you may find at grocery stores and other nearby shops. There are also numerous online sources to help you get a sense of your new surroundings and learn about activities and special events that you and your family might enjoy.

Our Springs Apartments team is dedicated to providing first-class service so you feel comfortable in your new home. Feel free to call or stop by our office whenever you need information or assistance. We look forward to welcoming you!
