Adopt a Pet at One of These 4 Bradenton and Sarasota Shelters

If you’re interested in adding a pet to your apartment home, we’re happy to welcome your furry friend. Get started in your search for a four-legged family member at these local shelters.

Bradenton

Humane Society of Manatee County

The Humane Society of Manatee County rescues orphaned dogs and cats and offers them for adoption. Pets are available for a modest adoption fee, which includes the cost of spaying or neutering, microchipping, deworming, vaccinations, flea, tick, and heartworm prevention, and important health tests and screenings. You can view adoptable pets online at any time for an idea of what pet are available.

Bishop Animal Shelter

The Bishop Animal Shelter offers several different pets for adoption, including dogs, cats, birds, and small animals. If you’re interested in taking a new family member home, you’ll need to complete an application and pay a $60 adoption fee. You’ll meet with a staff counselor to prepare for your new pet and learn everything you need to know to ensure a happy homecoming.

Your adoption fee includes spaying or neutering, an identification tattoo, vaccinations, heartworm testing, flea bath, ear mite check, and nail trim. You’ll get a collar, leash, and tag to take your pet home, as well as a certificate for a free medical checkup within a week of adoption.

Sarasota

Humane Society of Sarasota County

The Humane Society of Sarasota County is the largest no-kill shelter in the area. Adoptable animals are available to view online, and once you’ve met your future family member, you can place a hold on the animal for up to 24 hours. There’s a variable adoption fee depending on the age and type of pet you’re interested in. This fee includes spaying or neutering, microchipping, vaccinations, and a 30-day 24PetWatch pet insurance policy.

Before taking your pet home, you must provide paperwork from our apartment community specifying that we are pet-friendly. You must also provide proof of up-to-date vaccinations for any existing pets in your apartment home.

Cat Depot

If you’re set on adopting a cat, the Cat Depot has adoptable animals of every age. To adopt a pet, you must complete an application and meet with an adoption counselor. There’s an adoption fee of $100 for kittens and $75 for adult cats. This fee includes spaying or neutering, vaccines deworming, flea and ear mite treatment, microchipping, and a physical examination by a vet. You’ll also receive a sample of both dry and wet food, a certificate for a wellness exam, lifetime microchip registration, and a prescription discount card.
